The little villages of San Pietro in Campo and Sagrogna, mid-way between Ponte nelle Alpi and Belluno, tiny though they are, are interesting in that they have maintained the appearance of rural settlements facing towards the Piave. Located opposite one another, on the right and left of the river respectively, these two villages were the last two to be involved in the process of floating goods down the river before they reached the important river port of Borgo Piave. Behind the church of San Pietro in Campo is the internal path the raftsmen used to take to get back home, which ran long the right of the riverbed. Most of the houses are in plaster-covered brickwork, although in Sagrogna a number of typical rural constructions with wooden balconies can still be seen.

For those coming from the A27, when you come to the roundabout at the bridge over the Piave in Ponte nelle Alpi, follow the SP1 along the left side of the river; at km 2.6, take a local road near the craft area that heads towards the flow of the Piave and the village of Sagrogna. After about a kilometre, another road goes down towards the Piave at Levego.
San Pietro in Campo can be reached by taking the SS50, which runs from Ponte nelle Alpi to Belluno; in the area near the airport, a road that runs around the landing field leads into the village.
